“Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory: Thirty Years Eyes on the Sky”
International Conference, Smolyan, 26-29 September, 2011

In 2011, 30 years have passed since the opening of the Rozhen National Astronomical Observatory (NAO). Owing to the foundation of NAO, Bulgarian astronomy has entered a new era in its development: growing in staff members, research expertise and high-quality results, the Institute of Astronomy has developed into one of the leading research entities in Bulgaria while Rozhen National Observatory was  internationally recognized as a trusted source of valuable optical data in photometry and high-resolution spectroscopy, and a national and regional center for qualification and professional development of young astronomers and post-docs in the field of astronomy.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Rozhen NAO, the Institute of Astronomy, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is organizing an international conference which will take place between 26th and 29th of September, in Smolyan, Bulgaria.  
The conference will be divided into four main topics:

Following the main subjects on which the IA with NAO staff have worked during the last 30 years, the second topic will encompass three themes: Sun and the solar system, stars and stellar systems, and extragalactic astronomy. For each topic we plan to have up to three invited talks of thirty minutes each and a series of contributed talks of twenty minutes. Also we plan to have posters in order for each participant to have the possibility to contribute.
